It’s very exciting to see an artist take a fiber technique, like weaving, and use it with a different material, especially one that does not seem to lend itself to that technique. Woven fibers are usually soft and pliant, while glass is rigid and brittle. Creating a woven fabric out of rods of glass is magical and spectacular! American artists Eric Markow & Thom Norris developed the process of weaving glass at the turn of the 21st century. Their website showcases their work and allows you to see the process up close.
