As Leslie Camhi says in her 2011 New York Times Interview with Sheila Hicks, she is a global artist before the term was fashionable — one who adopted the language of textiles as her primary medium and expanded it exponentially. A quote from an Oct. 2015 story on Wallpaper.com says:
