I would like to introduce the reader to the newest feature to launch on our website: Artist Videos. We highlight different fiber artists with videos of their work and some background about them and their work. This page will grow and become deeper and richer with time. Be sure to check back from time to time to see who’s been added!
This particular artist and his fiber performance piece, Heard, took place both on the campus of the University of North Texas, but also in front of the Nasher Sculpture Center. I attended the performance at the Nasher, and it was just spectacular. Everything about it is so visceral: the bold use of color, the graceful yet powerful movements of the dancers, and the seductive sound of each suit as the materials danced and swayed in a wonderfully choreographed performance.
Many of my friends participated in the collaborative nature of creating each sound suit, as Nick refers to them. This was a massive, collaborative effort with the community of fiber artists, students, and who know who else helped to produce this vision of his. I could just kick myself that I didn’t MAKE the time to be a part of this!!! I won’t go into all of my busyness, but that’s what stopped me from creating a fabulous memory of being a part of this memorable event. I was there to see them dance in front of the Nasher, thank goodness! That was a moment I will never forget. I hope you enjoy this version of the experience!
