Explore Fiber is a collaborative website showcasing and exploring fiber as a fine art material.
Check out the newest feature of our growing site, Artist Interviews. The first interview posted is of Associate Professor of Fibers, Amie Adelman, who teaches at the University of North Texas in Denton. Being an alum of UNT, I got to know Amie when she first began teaching there. Since I’m a fiberholic, I found the fibers department and started hanging out there. Amie’s program is one of the last fibers programs at the university level in the state, which includes not only an undergraduate but also graduate degrees in fibers. The detail image for this post comes from her installation, Defining Lines, which is coming to a close this weekend in the Cliff Gallery at Mountain View College in Dallas, TX. Her work is constructed from sewing thread and is best described in her artist statement. Meticulous and large in scale, Amie stretches the boundaries from intimate and precise to large, enveloping forms. I hope you enjoy her work as much as I do!
