Explore Fiber is a collaborative website showcasing and exploring fiber as a fine art material.
Thanks to Amie Adelman, Associate Professor of Fibers in the College of Visual Arts and Design at the University of North Texas, for sharing this website on the UNT Fibers Facebook page! What an amazing resource this is!
For 25+ years, browngrotta arts has represented museum-quality contemporary artworks from the US and abroad. This work, by artists working for the most part in fiber, is promoted by browngrotta arts through photography, publications, exhibitions, digital placement and through this website.
In addition to an impressive list of international textile artists, they also have catalogues, books, and dvds of exhibitions and artist profiles. For your pleasure, here is a video of one of the artists they represent, Gyöngy Laky. The artwork she speaks about, “Collateral Damage”, originated from her anti-warist feelings about the Iraq war, but is just as relative today as we see the horrors of the Syrian war and how that is impacting the entire globe.
